Ulun Carik is a Balinese phrase that embodies the essence of the rice fields.
It encompasses the role of the rice fields in Balinese life and the most important
temple of these fields is called Ulun Carik.
Aptly named, the villas sit on the edge of a vast expanse of green - the famed rice fields of Bali stretch into the distance.
To ensure total peace and privacy the backdrop is a mature coconut palm plantation, while a short walk away are the villages of Cepaka and Bebengan.
A brisk walk in the morning or a leisurely evening stroll will take you down tiny lanes to the gates of ancient temples. Children on the way to school will greet you in English, while the elders of the village will smile and ask mau ke mana (where are you going?) to which you can reply jalan jalan saja (just going for a walk). It's a standard greeting and response.
